We are looking for 5-12 years experienced software professionals as Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer and Principal Engineer.
POSITION SUMMARY
Lead /Principal Software engineer needed for Ciena"s network design and planning tools development. These tools are used to architect and deploy Ciena"s transport hardware in long distance and metro networks.!
Requirements include BSEE/CS; minimum 5-12+ years total software design experience; minimum 1-3+ years experience in a lead development role involving high level requirements definition; minimum 3-5+ years direct coding experience with C++.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal software architect for design tools Kernel development
Communicate with Lightwave Design Engineers to construct Kernel architecture that maps algorithms into working code. Assist in algorithm development, maintain code base.
Own and update software interface control document that defines interoperability.
Communicate with GUI principal engineer to ensure correct GUI-Kernel interoperability.
Lead and supervise other Kernel developers
Work with design tools project manager to define high-level functionality for every release.
Translate functional requirements into development tasks and provide project manager accurate time estimates for completion.
SKILLS
Operating System: Windows 2000 and XP
Languages: C++
.NET Framework: C# .NET
Database: SQL server
Web: XML and XHTML
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
• Must be able to travel to United States or Canada for extended perio! ds of time (up to 3 months) with advance notice
• Independent self-starter and committed to delivering on aggressive deadlines.
• Comfortable in a team environment with ability to lead and work with little supervision.
•Must be able to design and architect Kernel with forward-looking growth.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors in CS or EE
•5-12+ total software design experience with 1-3+ years in a lead development role with significant design experience including XML file definitions.
• 3-5+ years direct coding experience using C++
• Previous experience in design tools or telecommunicat! ions companies a big plus.
